It all starts with a quilt.

Sourcing.

Every quilt that I use in my garments is sourced second-hand, whether that be an estate sale, flea market, or online marketplace. Not only is this practice more sustainable than producing new material, I also like to believe that each piece comes with its own past. Not all of my quilts are vintage, but each one is pre-loved and in varying states of worn.

Cut and Sewn.

From the quilt, I begin to shape the garment. Although the overall shape and drape remains the same, each coat has unique elements that I choose to best compliment the quilt. Every detail from the binding color to the addition of a shawl collar or flap pocket is carefully considered.

Made-to-Order vs Ready-Made.

I am happy to work either way, and produce about 50% made-to-order and 50% ready made. My ready made coats can be found in person at Les Amis in Seattle, WA. If you’d like to learn more about commissioning a made-to-order coat, you can find information under the Made to Order tab.
