The Seeded Stitch is a one-woman business, built from old stitches and well-worn textiles. I found the name while exploring my love for hand spun yarn and the way that working with fibers allows us to connect to old ways of being. It’s a feeling of being near the earth, the soil that grows crops until they become fibers, or food for animals - sheep, rabbits, alpacas. Our clothing has a way of connecting us to this ancient system, both literally and figuratively; look at your own sleeve right now - woven textiles are like furrows in a field, knit stitches lay in even rows like seeds after sowing.
And how did this lead to coats?
I wanted to create a garment that suggested the warmth of being out in nature, like the feeling of following a crunchy, leaf-speckled path as light finds its way through the trees. Although each coat looks different, I hope that they all remind you of times that made you feel warm from the inside out.
